Matthew 16:1 "...they asked Him to show them a sign from heaven."
Origen: "Now He called them evil...because of deliberate wickedness, and adulterous because [they left the True Word of the Law for the falsehood of their own traditions". (1)
Reflection:
Here is the plainest evidence that God only opens our eyes to see, and our ears to hear, when we humbly seek Him. "Seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you." (2)
If we come in pride, demanding proof, it is because we have already made up our minds that there can be no proof. It is self-fulfilling.
Isaiah 7 tells me, "If you do not believe, neither shall you understand." (3)
Further, Matthew 8:13 tells me, "As you have believed, so be it done unto you." (3)
So, for me personally, I'll see it when I believe it
Precious Lord, thank you for drawing me to Yourself in 1973. Thank you for improving my vision and my hearing , slowly but increasingly, in the years You have spent sanctifying me. Put me in your refinery! Burn out the dross and the ugly! Mold me and make me! And thank you for the countless signs and wonders you parade before me! Praise Jesus! Work in me, O Spirit!
